Using supported HID Controllers is relatively a simple setup procedure when connecting and configuring with the Next Level Gateway Security System. Being that the gateway and controllers communicate over a network, it is crucial that you have the network settings correctly configured on both devices in order for proper discovery and connection.

The steps below will guide you through the process of resetting the HID controllers network settings to the default 169.254.242.121 address in case you run across any complications during the setup.

Hardware Affected: HID ERP40, HID ER40, HID E400
Software Affected: All
Resetting HID Controller to Default Network Settings

Remove the network cable from the ethernet port on controller

Note: If externally powered, power down the controller before proceeding

Remove the jumper situated on the 2 Tamper pins

Place the jumper onto the 2 left pins that are located to the right of the Tamper pins just above where it reads “RS232â€

Reconnect the network cable back into the ethernet port on controller

Note: If externally powered, power up the controller before proceeding

Wait until you hear 3 beeps from controller and the lights on the bottom turn to red and amber orange.

Remove the network cable from the ethernet port on controller

Remove the jumper from the 2 left pins and place back onto the 2 Tamper pins

Reconnect the network cable back into the ethernet port on controller

Look on the bottom of the controller and wait for the lights to turn red and green

Open up a web browser(i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc) and enter into the url address field the IP address of 169.254.242.121

Note: Be sure to set your computers network settings into the IP range of 169.254.xxx.xxx with subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 in order to connect to the device. If you do not receive a response from that IP address, then there is most likely an issue on the network that will need to be resolved before proceeding further.

  Enter in the default username/password (admin/<leave blank>)

Configure the appropriate network settings for the controller

IMPORTANT: You MUST enter the Next Level Gateway systems IP address into the Basic Central Station/Host Communication Setup field for proper discovery of the controller. In addition, the “Here I am Intervalâ€ MUST be set to 20 for proper connection with the gateway.

Select Submit and then Save. Controller will now reboot and take on the new network settings.
